Cabrera’s 100th RBI lifts Tigers over Twins
Even with a bad defense, the Detroit Tigers were able to pull off a win against the Minnesota Twins with a little help from Doug Fister’s strong play.
It also helped that Miguel Cabrera reached his 100th RBI this season on a run-scoring single while Fister pitched strongly for eight innings to help the Tigers take an 8-4 win over the Twins on Tuesday night. Fister did not allow any runs and struck out seven to earn his third win in four starts.
Cabrera is the first player to reach 100 RBIs this season in Major League Baseball.
Detroit had overcome two errors in the third to overcome a three-game slide and remains two games behind the Chicago White Sox in the AL Central. Josh Willinghan earned hit 30th career home run for the Twins.
The Minnesota Twins' history started in 1894 in Kansas City before moving to Washington in 1901 as the original Washington Senators/Nationals. In 1960 they moved to Minnesota and became the Minnesota Twins. The Twin currently play in the Central Division of the American League. They got their name from the popular name of the region "Twin Cities."
The rivalry to look forward to is that of the Minnesota Twins and the Houston Astros once the Astros move the American League in 2013. At the moment, games between the Twins and the Chicago White Sox are the ones to look out for. Catch the excitement with other fans live, buy your tickets now.
